Kathy's father Maurice Haycock and Wilfrid Flood both painted this scene from slightly different view points. It is always facinating to see how an artist interprets a landscape scene.

Kathy took this site photo almost 60 years after the painting's completion.

I like the sky in this water-colour. The free simple strokes retain the natural inter-related pattern of a sky, yet are enhanced by the particles of pure pigment that settle on the paper like sediment building up over timeless eons on the bottom of a primal lake.  

My  viewing of the sky shifts between it's representational mode of sky and it's physical mode of pigment and technique.
